First-time sex for bedroom freshers

Protection (boring but important)

Okay, so it's not a very sexy topic, but it's a lot sexier than Chlamydia. Safe sex is not optional - it's essential. And the only way to be sure that it is safe is to plan your protection in advance (before he turns up for dinner/you head off to the party/arrive on the date...).
Never assume he will have condoms (even if he tells you he has). If he turns around and says he "can't find them after all" at the crucial moment when you've just drunk the best part of a bottle of wine, it will be a lot harder to say no.
Likewise, don't think that being on the pill counts as protection. Sure, it will prevent you from getting pregnant but it won't provide protection against STIs. If there's even an inkling that you're going to be having sex in the near future, buy your condoms now.
