Are you good in bed?

1 What's your weekly exercise regime?

2-3 high-intensity, 45-minute sessions a week (+3)
4-5 sessions lasting more than 2 hours (-1)
I train solely ‘on the job’ (-2)

Contrary to intuition, donning a pair of less-than-fetching running shorts increases your sex appeal. According to research at Colorado State University, moderate 30-minute runs three times a week for a month will get you panting in more ways than one. Of the study’s 3,000 participants, 75% reported a higher sex drive, 72% were “more sexually responsive” and over 60% reported they could go for another lap around the bedroom within 10 minutes. But don’t overdo it. More than five hours a week can lead to "overtraining" where your testosterone levels, along with your mojo, drop by up to a third. Equally, never assume that sex is enough of a workout in itself. An 11st (70kg) man burns just 62 calories through 10 minutes of carnal cardio, says research at Carolina University. That means you’ll have to do three repeat performances just to justify a pint of Foster’s. You up to that big guy?

Is she faking it?

Knowing the tell-tale signs

If you've seen When Harry Met Sally then you know that ladies can be capable of quite a performance. Although Meg might be off your ‘list' now that it's not the early nineties, according to research at the University of Texas she is just one of the 72% of women who have faked an orgasm. Next time she's in the throes of passion, watch out for the following sign to find out whether that passion is bona fide or a 'buncha' lies.

Take a look at her chest. It's:

a) Mottled with a sort of red, blotchy rash.
b) Normal, apart from a sweaty sheen.
c) Plump, cool, the perfect place to rest a drink.

Answer: A
"Just before she orgasms, her body goes through a process called vasocongestion, where the blood rushes to the chest and genitals," says Tracey Cox, author of Kama Sutra. "For 50-70% of women this results in a rash-like flush across the chest, something a faking woman can't reproduce. If you're still not sure if she's being genuine, stroke her clitoris under the guise of giving her a helping hand. Just before orgasm it will decrease in size by 50%."

She says she’s reaching her peak, but what does it feel like for you?

a) Warm, wet, slippery.
b) There's a need for a dab more lube.
c) Tight, encouraging you to thrust harder.

From here, you can encourage her to experiment. “While we’re half asleep we can bypass our busy minds and experiment in ways she may normally resist,” says Dr Tammy Nelson, author of Getting the Sex You Want.

Take the middle ground

What? Massage the area between her breasts, using the back of your hand.
Why? “Ancient Taoists believed massaging a woman’s breastbone raised her libido,” says says Esther Lastique, who co-wrote Love Her Right. “These days there’s a more scientific explanation: massaging the area between her breasts produces the bonding hormone oxytocin. She’ll relax into orgasm and feel more intimate towards you.”
How? “Run your hand up and down her breastbone before stroking her breasts,” says Lastique. “Using the back of your hand is best, as it forces you to go gently. Try this while you’re performing oral sex, to help her feel more connected to you and climax quicker.”

Prevent strokes with tomato ketchup Tomatoes more than halve your stroke risk to keep the lights on for longer

Frankly, MH is bored of telling you about the cancer-beating benefit of tomatoes – specifically, their key nutrient lycopene. So here’s a new one: increased consumption of the superfruit – and its products – reduces your chances of a stroke by 55%, according to a study in the journal Neurology. It found that lycopene mops up free radicals before they cause blockages that restrict blood supply to your brain. If you’re also bored of tomatoes, you can get the nutrient from chilli peppers, watermelon, pink grapefruit – and yes, a certain condiment. In fact, the lycopene in ketchup is actually more bioavailable than the raw fruit. Just be sure to buy organic varieties (they have three times as much) and go unsweetened – the darker, the better. Suddenly adding red sauce seems like a much brighter idea.
