The 27-year-old singer, famed for her critically acclaimed albums Frank and Back To Black, had been in and out of rehab to try and beat her addiction to drink and drugs.
Last month Amy was forced to cancel a series of European gigs after she showed up an hour late and struggled to stay upright at a Belgrade concert.
Her last public appearance was last week at Camden's Roundhouse where goddaughter Dionne Bromfield had a gig.
'Amy staggered onstage and grabbed the mic to beg the crowd to buy her protege's new album,' an onlooker told The Sun.
'Dionne looked totally bemused by the whole thing.'
