Can oral sex give me mouth cancer?
Yes... have more than five oral-sex partners in your lifetime and you're two-and-a-half times more likely to develop throat cancer than abstemious abstainers, a new US study suggests. And with mouth cancer claiming more lives each year than testicular and cervical cancers combined, it's enough to make anyone keep their head above the covers.
How could that happen?
The John Hopkins University School of Medicine scientists who conducted the research believe oral sex may transmit human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus implicated in the majority of cervical cancers. The findings come on the back of two other studies with similar findings.
