Slow life: Coming of ages


As Mae West so sagely remarked, “Anything worth doing well is worth doing slowly.” Somehow I don’t think she was talking about scooping dead leaves out of her swimming pool. If in some of these little dalliances into my life on the lethargic side you may suspect me of a certain special pleading, when it comes to sex there can be no denying it: slow is beautiful. Indeed, I would go further, for, while the get our-clothes-off-as-fast-as-we-can-so-we- can-revel-in-the-new-found-land-of-each-other’s-body is the sine qua non of those first lustful couplings, it is axiomatic that if there is no prolongation of the act, there can be no real duration to the relationship itself.Read more »»
